Kill the Girl
You begin to get a faint picture in your mind.
Just a silhouette really. Slowly, you begin to focus & can almost make out what you see. This nagging familiarity just won’t go away. Then it dawns on you, and a chill runs up your spine. You recall the terrible crime you thought you had to commit.
I remember being stressed out
Tied up with everything that used to matter
Just a little girl with high hopes, long road
Always trying to go faster
I remember loving harder
Before I knew what love was
I remember laughing louder
Before I had to grow up
I remember fighting back and fourth with her
Begging her for silence
Thought that maybe if she hid behind me
She wont have to see the violence
I remember holding her close
As we said our goodbyes
I remember burying her soul
6 feet beneath mine
I had to kill the girl
I left her with the world
I left behind
I had to make myself strong
But I still carry her heart
With mine
I remember feeling hopeless, lonely,
Life was darker when I lost her
I kept trying not to lose the childlike eyes
That showed me the wonder
I’m desensitized to the things
That I hid from her
I thought we would be better off this way
But I would rather be hurt
I had to kill the girl
I left her with the world
I left behind
I fought to be on my own
The solitude made me strong
But at what cost
Maybe I just need someone to save me
Bring me back when I drive myself crazy
Show me everything I tried erasing
Like there’s still good even though I’ve been hurt
There’s still love in an evil world
I need her to bring me back to life
I had to kill the girl
I left her with the world
I left behind
I had to make myself strong
But I still carry her heart
With mine
I had to kill the girl
I left her with the world
I left behind
I had to make myself strong
But I still carry her heart
With mine
Kill the girl
Kill the girl
